Stephanie Mendes McComb is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design with a minor in Art History. While at URI, she spent a semester studying abroad at London College of Fashion learning skills in millinery, fashion illustration, footwear design among other fashion related subjects. She went on from there to work in corporate offices of major retailers such as Talbots, Value City (a former affiliate of DSW Shoes) and Columbia Sportswear Company while earning a second Bachelors degree in eMarketing from Franklin University.
Since getting more education is always a goal, she went on to complete the Fashion Forward program at Portland Fashion Institute where she learned all about building a fashion business while designing, pattern making and sewing a fashion collection. PFI was so impressed with her skills and knowledge, she was asked to teach sewing classes at the school, and now you can learn from her many years of sewing experience for yourself!
Meanwhile, over the years, she built up her technical and design skills in her favorite hobby-sewing! Most recently, she joined the highly acclaimed Association of Sewing and Design Professionals and plans to complete their certificate program to become a Master of Sewing and Design in 2022. Here we can see her progress from a beginner sewist to a skilled seamstress and fashion designer. Enjoy!
